Overview
GPC Electronics is one of the largest contract manufacturers in Australasia.
The company currently has three manufacturing locations:
- Sydney, Australia
- Christchurch, New Zealand
- Shenzhen, China.
Most of our production is exported - to over 40 countries.
GPC's business model is about providing manufacturing solutions at low overall cost and risk. Our focus is on making customers more competitive by managing complex business issues. We draw on the advantages of operating in Australia and New Zealand to create competitiveness for customers. This allows us to offer an outsourcing model that is difficult to replicate elsewhere.
It's why world leading companies like Nortel, Toshiba, Alcatel, Ericsson, Siemens, NEC and others have used us as sole source for some of their products for many years. Working with demanding global OEMs like these has enabled GPC to create world class capabilities and best practice quality standards. GPC has manufacturing skills comparable to the largest contract manufacturers but with far greater flexibility.
GPC's outsourcing model is about enhancing customer competitiveness
The traditional outsourcing model relies on cheap labour and wringing the last cent of efficiency from the production line. The use of cheap labour often introduces significant risks into the supply chain because of the need to operate in developing countries. An efficient production line is important, but too much focus on this can produce unresponsiveness and inflexibility.
GPC's approach is to understand what it is that will make a customer more competitive in the marketplace. It could be reducing overall cost, winning greater market share, minimizing working capital, fast time to market, being able to respond to a fast changing market, capturing high margin, short lead-time opportunities or many other factors. GPC then tailors business and manufacturing processes to achieve the desired outcomes.
GPC takes responsibility for achieving outcomes
GPC goes beyond just full turnkey assembly by taking ownership of the management of the customer's product. The company uses experienced managers and engineers to work on the customer's products to achieve outcomes that make them competitive.
The customer does not need to keep visiting the factory to sort out problems or make sure that things are going to happen - it's our responsibility. This further reduces overall cost by minimizing or eliminating the need to use customer resources or have personnel located at factory.
It's why our slogan is: WE MAKE IT HAPPEN
